QuickPin & SafeDevice

Instant access on your trusted devices. No email needed, no waiting — just your PIN. Fast when it’s safe. Locked when it’s not.

What it is

Two things that work together.

QuickPin

A short PIN you create yourself. Instead of waiting for an email code every time, you type your QuickPin and you’re in. Works only on a SafeDevice.

SafeDevice

A browser on a device you mark as trusted. The platform stores a secure cookie that links this specific browser to your account. Your device becomes your key.

QuickPin without SafeDevice gives you read-only access (failsafe mode).
QuickPin on SafeDevice gives you full read & edit access.
Email PIN always gives you full verified access, on any device.

Why it exists

Speed without compromise.

LogbookOS has no passwords. Every login starts with your email and a one-time PIN. That’s secure, but it takes a few seconds — you need to open your inbox, find the email, copy the code.

QuickPin and SafeDevice solve that. On your personal devices — the laptop on your desk, the phone in your pocket — you shouldn’t have to go through email verification every time. You set up SafeDevice once, create a QuickPin, and from that moment on you open the platform and type your PIN. Done.

The system trusts the device, so it only needs to verify you.

Setup

Three steps. One time.

You do this once per device. After that, every login is just your QuickPin.

1
Log in with email PIN
Enter your email, receive the one-time PIN, enter it. You’re now logged in with User Verified status on this device.
2
Go to My Profile → create QuickPin
Choose a PIN you’ll remember. This becomes your fast login code.
3
Same page → add SafeDevice
Mark this browser as trusted. A secure cookie is stored that links this browser to your account. From now on, the login screen shows your username and asks only for your QuickPin — no email needed.

Access levels

What you can do depends on how you logged in.

Email PIN (any device)
User Verified. Full access — read, edit, purchase, manage settings, everything. This is the highest access level.
QuickPin on SafeDevice
Read & Edit. Read and edit all content. For sensitive actions (purchases, account settings), a pop-up asks you to verify via email PIN — you get elevated to User Verified automatically.
QuickPin on untrusted device
Read Only. Failsafe mode — you can see all your data but change nothing. This exists so you’re never locked out, even when you can’t access your email.
Elevation is seamless. If you’re in Read & Edit mode and try to do something that requires full verification, the platform shows a pop-up, sends a PIN to your email, and elevates you to User Verified — without logging you out.
Security

What happens if someone tries your PIN.

3 wrong attempts = auto-lockout
If someone enters the wrong QuickPin three times, the system automatically disables both QuickPin and SafeDevice on that browser. The cookie is invalidated. To regain access, you must log in with your email PIN and set up QuickPin and SafeDevice again from scratch.
One browser = one SafeDevice
SafeDevice is locked to a specific browser on a specific device. Chrome on your laptop is one SafeDevice. Safari on your phone is another. Each one needs its own setup. If you clear your browser cookies, the SafeDevice is removed and you’ll need to set it up again.
You can remove SafeDevices any time
From My Profile, you can see all your active SafeDevices and remove any of them. Lost a device? Remove it remotely and nobody can use the QuickPin on it.
For children

QuickPin & SafeDevice is mandatory for minors.

Dependent accounts (children under parental control) don’t have their own email. They log in only with QuickPin on a SafeDevice — there is no other way in.

The parent sets up the SafeDevice together with the child. That specific browser on that specific device becomes the child’s only access point. The child cannot add new SafeDevices, cannot change the QuickPin, and cannot log in from any other browser or device.

Parent creates the account
From My Profile → Dependent Members. The child gets a username and a QuickPin. The account inherits the parent’s email.
Parent sets up the SafeDevice
Together with the child, the parent opens the browser the child will use and marks it as SafeDevice. This is the only device the child can log in from.
Child logs in with QuickPin only
The child opens the browser, sees their username, types the QuickPin, and is in. No email, no forms. If the SafeDevice cookie is cleared or the PIN fails 3 times, the parent must set it up again.
Best practices

Do this. Don’t do that.

Do
Use SafeDevice on your personal laptop and phone
Choose a QuickPin you can remember but others can’t guess
Remove SafeDevices you no longer use from My Profile
Set up SafeDevice for your child’s browser together
Don’t
Use SafeDevice on public or shared computers
Use SafeDevice on work computers others have access to
Share your QuickPin with anyone
Use obvious PINs like 1234 or 0000
