Two things that work together.
QuickPin
A short PIN you create yourself. Instead of waiting for an email code every time, you type your QuickPin and you’re in. Works only on a SafeDevice.
SafeDevice
A browser on a device you mark as trusted. The platform stores a secure cookie that links this specific browser to your account. Your device becomes your key.
QuickPin without SafeDevice gives you read-only access (failsafe mode).
QuickPin on SafeDevice gives you full read & edit access.
Email PIN always gives you full verified access, on any device.
Speed without compromise.
LogbookOS has no passwords. Every login starts with your email and a one-time PIN. That’s secure, but it takes a few seconds — you need to open your inbox, find the email, copy the code.
QuickPin and SafeDevice solve that. On your personal devices — the laptop on your desk, the phone in your pocket — you shouldn’t have to go through email verification every time. You set up SafeDevice once, create a QuickPin, and from that moment on you open the platform and type your PIN. Done.
The system trusts the device, so it only needs to verify you.
Three steps. One time.
You do this once per device. After that, every login is just your QuickPin.

What you can do depends on how you logged in.
What happens if someone tries your PIN.
QuickPin & SafeDevice is mandatory for minors.
Dependent accounts (children under parental control) don’t have their own email. They log in only with QuickPin on a SafeDevice — there is no other way in.
The parent sets up the SafeDevice together with the child. That specific browser on that specific device becomes the child’s only access point. The child cannot add new SafeDevices, cannot change the QuickPin, and cannot log in from any other browser or device.
Do this. Don’t do that.
